AIA Life is a wholly-owned life insurance subsidiary of AIA Insurance Co., Ltd., which operates AIA's life insurance business in mainland China. AIA Life Insurance has a professional team of insurance marketers and provides customers with various personal insurance services such as life insurance and health insurance through diversified sales channels.

AIA Insurance established a branch in Shanghai in 1992 and was one of the earliest non local insurance institutions to obtain a personal insurance business license after the reform and opening up. It was also the first insurance company to introduce the insurance salesperson system into China. In June 2020, the Shanghai branch of AIA Insurance Co., Ltd. was transformed into AIA Life Insurance Co., Ltd. In July 2020, AIA Life Insurance officially became the first foreign-funded personal insurance company in mainland China.
